Faith is perfected when we see it

New Testament: Jam 2.21–22

To read the Bible in a year, read James 2 on November 20, In the year of our Lord 2022

By Don Ruhl

What is faith if we do not see it in action? We can boast all day that we have faith, but if we fail to put it into action, our boasts mean nothing. James said of Abraham,

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

– James 2.21–22

Abraham had faith, therefore, he did what the Lord said to do in regard to offering Isaac as a sacrifice and that justified Abraham. Faith is the beginning, but it is not the end. If we add works to our faith, we have then perfected our faith.

Questions:

  • Do you have faith?
  • Can others see that you do without you ever telling them that you have faith?
