Old Testament: Eze 39.27–28

The Lord sent Israel into captivity primarily for the sin of idolatry, ascribing Godhood to items that they had carved. They insulted the Lord greatly when they did so. Therefore, He sent attackers against them, who also brought them back to the land of Assyria and Babylon. Finally, when Israel returned to the land, they would learn an important truth, 

“When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, then they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer.”

– Ezekiel 39.27–28 

They would finally learn who is the true and living God. Our world today needs to learn the same thing, and we who believe in Him should always be ready to teach them the truth on these matters. We can even use Israel’s example in the passage that I have cited.
