Peter prophesied of the arrival of false teachers and how they would prey upon the unsteady, and if anyone followed the false teachers, Peter showed the awful place such a person has placed himself, including this: 

But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

– 2 Peter 2.22 

We would never go back and eat what we had vomited, nor would we immediately jump in the mire after having cleansed ourselves. 

Yet, that is what a Christian does when he or she falls away. Disgusting. 

Questions: 

• Have you seen a dog do this or seen a pig doing what Peter said? 
• Have you ever fallen away? 
• If so, what made you come back?
