Old Testament: Amos 5.14–15
To read the Bible in a year, read Amos 4–6 on December 15, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Israel was going down fast and it was because they had forsaken what the Lord taught them in the Law, and in other parts of Scripture that had been revealed by that time. Therefore, he taught them again:
Seek good and not evil,
That you may live;
So the LORD God of hosts will be with you,
As you have spoken.
Hate evil, love good;
Establish justice in the gate.
It may be that the LORD God of hosts
Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
– Amos 5.14–15
Seek good because you should love good and do not seek evil because you should hate evil. It really is that simple. Try living that way and see what it does to your life.
Questions:
- How do you know what is good and what is evil?
- What is the quality of your life?
