Moses wrote what was created on each day of creation, and then he stated that creation was finished: 

Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.

– Genesis 2.1 

That is precisely how we see it today. The creatures of the earth do not keep evolving into something, but God created everything fully formed and fully functional. Therefore, evolution was not necessary and is not necessary today. 

New kinds of creatures shall not appear on the earth, but everything shall remain as it is now.
