Old Testament: Gen 3.24
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 3–5 on January 2, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Adam and Eve lived on a paradise Earth that we can only dream about and they lived in a garden that God himself planted. How magnificent that garden must have been.
However, they sinned and God removed them from his garden and made it so that they could not return and eat from the tree of life:
So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
– Genesis 3.24
It is sad to read about that shortly after seeing God create everything, and how ideal the first man and woman had it.
However, all hope is not lost, because the Book of Revelation reveals that in heaven, before the throne of God, is the tree of life, from which we shall be able to eat (Revelation 22).
God has determined to bless us because he loves us. We ruin things, but he still pursues us and provides another way for us to be blessed. Praise God for his eternal care of man.
Questions:
- What are cherubim?
- How did the flaming sword guard the way to the tree of life?
