New Testament: Matt 12.41
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 12.22–50 on January 16, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
The reluctant preacher announced to the Ninevites that God would destroy Nineveh in 40 days. To Jonah’s surprise, the people repented although Jonah did not do any miracle to show that he was from God. They had been so wicked, that he just knew or hoped that God would destroy them.
However, the Son of God went to the land of Israel and did many might miracles and preached magnificent words, but the Jews for the most part rejected him and his message. Jesus then declared:
“The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.”
– Matthew 12.41
