Moses killed an Egyptian who was beating an Israelite. He learned later that Pharaoh found out about it, and so he fled: 

When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.

– Exodus 2.15 

Moses was not a fearful man, but he was not ready to die yet either. He was only 40 years old and he had good intentions, wanting to rescue one of his Israelite brethren. So this was a time to flee.
