New Testament: Matt 22.29
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 22.23–46 February 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
The Sadducees thought they had Jesus trapped. They believed a man could have more than one wife, but that a woman could not have more than one husband. Therefore, if a woman had been married more than once, in their minds, she would have more than one husband in the resurrection. That could not be, according to their reasoning, so they concluded there is no resurrection.
To that, Matthew wrote that Jesus began to respond this way:
Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.”
– Matthew 22.29
The Sadducees thought they knew the truth, but Jesus revealed that they committed two mistakes. First, they did not know the Scriptures, and second, they did not know the power of God.
How many people are mistaken about God or something related to him, because they either do not know the Scriptures or do not know God or do not know both?
Do you know the Scriptures?
Do you know the power of God?
You are doing the right thing by reading and meditating in the Scriptures daily. Do not stop. You shall come to know both the Scriptures and the power of God, if you do not already. When you know both, the blessings will be more than I can ever tell you.
Questions:
- Is there a resurrection coming?
- What can God do?
