Old Testament: Exo 37.17–24
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 37–38 on February 5, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
The Lord commissioned Bezalel to make the gold lampstand for the tabernacle. He had probably used his skills, making things for the Egyptians and never realized he would later do something as wonderful as making the furniture of the tabernacle of God:
He also made the lampstand of pure gold; of hammered work he made the lampstand. Its shaft, its branches, its bowls, its ornamental knobs, and its flowers were of the same piece…
– Exodus 37.17–24
Read carefully the description of the lampstand and see if what you read fits the picture of the menorah that we often see.
The lampstand provided light in the tabernacle and you will see that it provided several sources of light.
Imagine a master craftsman, such as Bezalel, working by the Spirit of God, creating a lampstand of gold. Do you see its beauty?
Questions:
- Do you believe our God loves beauty?
- What is the most beautiful thing God has created in natural creation?
