New Testament: Mark 2.22
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 2 on February 18, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Jesus illustrated how his covenant was something completely new. It would not be like the old covenant, but an entirely new system. He said:
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
– Mark 2.22
The old sacrificial system was just that, old. It was for the children of Israel. He brought something that was for Israel and the rest of the world. Therefore, it came with a different sacrificial system, and he has already made that single sacrifice.
In the church, we are in new wineskins.
