Old Testament: Deu 4.11
To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 3–4 on March 7, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
The Lord wanted the children of Israel to gather before him when he was on the mountain of God, Horeb. Moses recounted what happened, and said:
“Then you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the midst of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.”
– Deuteronomy 4.11
What an awesome experience that must have been. They knew that the God of heaven and of all creation was up there at the top of that mountain!
It also appeared as a frightful scene, because it burned with fire, but simultaneously there was darkness.
This is not all that the Bible pictures of Israel before God at that mountain, but even this short depiction shows just how awesome is our God.
- How high did the fire go?
- What is your picture of God in heaven?
