Speak Words of Assurance

New Testament: Luke 23.43

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 23.39–56 on May 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

By Don Ruhl

A man was hanging on a cross next to Jesus. The man spoke up for Jesus, when the third man being crucified that day, blasphemed Jesus. Then the man asked Jesus to remember him when Jesus arrived in his kingdom. Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23.43).

How would you like for the Son of God to be right next to you as you are dying and then he assures you that you will join him in paradise?

Listen, if you know of a Christian who is close to death, give him the same reassurance that Jesus gave that man. Speak words of assurance.

Questions:

  • What is another name for Paradise? (See Second Corinthians 12.3.)
  • Have you been present while someone died?
