The wealth of Solomon piled up

Old Testament: 1Ki 10.26–27

To read the Bible in a year, read First Kings 10–11 on May 5, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

By Don Ruhl

Solomon sought the Lord’s wisdom, and in turn the Lord blessed Solomon with abundance, giving him, “one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen.”

King Solomon also made, “silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedar trees as abundant as the sycamores which are in the lowland” (1 Kings 10.26–27).

The God of heaven owns planet Earth. Therefore he can give to whomever he desires in any amount that he desires, or he can withhold anything that pleases him.

Either way, he runs the universe. If he blesses you materialistically, use it to his glory. If you are not so blessed, live your life in honor of the God whom you shall one day meet and live with forever.

Questions:

  • Are there sycamore trees where you live?
  • How much silver do you own?
