New Testament: John 7.14–16
To read the Bible in a year, read John 7.1–31 on May 19, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
When Jesus taught, it amazed people, for they could tell that he knew things they did not know. On one occasion, they questioned how he could teach such wonderful things, since he had not studied, at least not in their schools: “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”
The simple but true answer that Jesus gave was: “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me” (John 7.14–16).
Jesus knew of what he spoke, because he did not invent his teaching, but whatever the Father commanded Jesus to teach, Jesus taught those very words!
Likewise, let the Scriptures train you how to speak, how to reason, and impart to you wisdom, and you will also amaze people, but remember to give the glory to God, even as Jesus did.
Questions:
- Do you find your thinking changing the more you read the word of God?
- Has anyone said something about your wisdom?
- If so, did you give God the glory?
