The Levites had many responsibilities in Israel and one was that of providing music, mainly at the tabernacle and later the temple.
David, a lover of music, worked with the Levites to provide singing services for the tabernacle/temple, and he wanted them to raise their voice with resounding joy (1 Chronicles 15.16).
The Levites did as David requested: “So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah…” (1 Chronicles 15.17–24).
The Lord also wants the church to sing. He does not tell us to be spectators, but he wants to hear everyone of us raise our voices with resounding joy.
Questions:
- Do you sing during the worship with resounding joy?
- What are your favorite gospel songs?
