To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 3 on March 23, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
When Luke listed the genealogy of Jesus, Luke started with Jesus and went back to Adam, whereas Matthew started with Abraham and moved forward to Jesus. After declaring that Jesus began His ministry at about 30 years of age, Luke began the genealogy this way,

Joseph had not begotten Jesus biologically, but Joseph had certainly acted as a father to Jesus, even as any good man does who adopts a child. Therefore, to protect the truth that Jesus was born of a virgin, Luke recorded that Jesus was the son of Joseph, “as was supposed,” but to protect the fatherhood of Joseph, Luke also recorded that Jesus was the son of Joseph.
