02.22.2018 – Old Testament: Num 7.2–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 7 on February 22, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The children of Israel completed the tabernacle and Moses anointed everything associated with the tabernacle. Then it was time for the leaders to make an offering,
Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ houses, who were the leaders of the tribes and over those who were numbered, made an offering. And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders, and for each one an ox; and they presented them before the tabernacle (Numbers 7.2–3).
The leaders made their sacrifice, representing their tribes, and the leaders brought their offerings before the tabernacle. That was the place to make offerings to the Lord at that time, and later the temple would replace the tabernacle.
When we see the love of God and how He has provided for our spiritual needs, even as He did for the children of Israel, it moves us to want to show Him our love. We should also offer to Him financial contributions on the first day of the week, and we can do other good works that bring honor to Him.
- Have you offered yourself to the Lord?
- Do you contribute weekly to your local congregation?
