05.30.2018 – New Testament: John 11.53
To read the Bible in a year, read John 11.47–57 on May 30, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead and many people believed in Jesus because of it. However, some people went to the chief priest and Pharisees to tell them what had happened. Then those men asked what they should do because Jesus was doing many signs. Here is what they decided to do:
Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death (John 11.53).
Amazing! They wanted to figure out how they could kill Jesus for raising people from the dead. It seems as though they should have sought His help on matters beyond their control. If He could raise people from the dead, what else could He do for them? However, they did not choose to think that way. They could only see that He was drawing people to Himself, and for that, they decided that He needed to die.
