Romans Bible Background

08.17.2018 – New Testament: Rom 15.22

To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 15.21–33 on August 17, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

We have our plans, but the Lord is in charge. Therefore, Paul wanted to go to Rome, but the Lord delayed those plans:

For this reason I also have been much hindered from coming to you (Romans 15.22).

Later the Lord did allow Paul to go, but he went as a prisoner. While we often say, Be careful what you wish for, I do not think Paul regretted wanting to go to Rome, after all, he went at Rome’s expense and with Rome’s protection.
