01.20.2019 – New Testament: Matt 14.26–27
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 14.22–36 on January 20, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
The disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. During the night, the wind started blowing strong and the waves grew. Then Jesus went walking on the water from the shore and the Bible says this:
And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14.26–27).
They thought Jesus was a ghost! Yet, He was very real and very much on their side. Therefore, rather than having fear, He told them to be of good cheer! That is how it is with the Lord Jesus Christ, regardless of your situation. Just remember that He is with you, and you shall endure.
- Do the teachings of Jesus frighten you?
- Are you afraid to commit yourself to Him totally?
