New Testament: Mark 4.30
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 4.21–41 on February 22, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Jesus preached primarily on the coming kingdom of God. One method that He used to reveal things about the kingdom was the parable, a story that has been thrown along side the spiritual truth that He wanted people to see that by the earthly illustration they could see the heavenly truth. Interestingly, He asked once a question about a parable, but I do not think that He was looking for answer; He was merely making us think about the best way to present the kingdom:
Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it?”
– Mark 4.30
He knew what parable to use because He immediately spoke one. However, not everyone can understand the nature of the kingdom, so we really have to think of how to illustrate it as Jesus did.
- To what would you liken the kingdom of God?
- What parable would you use to picture the kingdom of God?
