Old Testament: Job 30.24–26
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 29–30 on July 4, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
You give and give, working for others, doing them good and you hope that later you can look for some good, but then it does not happen:
“Surely He would not stretch out His hand against a heap of ruins,
If they cry out when He destroys it.
Have I not wept for him who was in trouble?
Has not my soul grieved for the poor?
But when I looked for good, evil came to me;
And when I waited for light, then came darkness.”– Job 30.24–26
Job knew the feeling. Even so, you have to keep doing what is right simply because it is the right thing to do and in time you will see good and light, as Job later did.
Questions:
- Do you feel like giving up sometimes?
- Yet, you don’t. What keeps you going?
