The water cooler is famous for workers slacking off, or at least that is what the boss might be thinking! In John 4, Jesus struck up a conversation with a woman at a well that changed her life forever.
Genesis 24 shows Abraham’s servant meeting a woman at a well, and it changed her life forever too. The encounter begins:
And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up. And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.”
– Genesis 24.15–17
The servant had already prayed to God to meet the woman whom God had determined should marry Isaac.
Sharing water with someone might change his or her life forever, or it might change yours.
