Old Testament: Jdg 8.28
To read the Bible in a year, read Judges 8–9 on April 2, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Israel turned from the Lord and the Lord brought them back by letting another nation oppress them. Then He raised up a judge who fought the enemy and functioned as a judge for Israel, and during those times, they would have peace, such as during the time of Gideon’s judging:
Thus Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted their heads no more. And the country was quiet for forty years in the days of Gideon.
– Judges 8.28
Use times of quiet from war to get closer to God. Use times of war to get closer to God. Use every situation and every excuse you can find to get closer to God.
Questions:
- What nation had been oppressing Israel?
- What do you use as a motivation to get closer to God?

Been having a similarly veined conversation with a family member. What moves us closer to God … peace or tribulation? And why?

I had to read this twice to catch it, maybe because I just work up from a nap:
> Use times of quiet from war to get closer to God. Use times of war to get closer to God.
