Old Testament: Job 28.13–14
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 26–28 on July 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021
By Don Ruhl
Job had asked his friends where wisdom could be found and where the place of understanding is. As he began to answer his own question, he proposed this:
“Man does not know its value,
Nor is it found in the land of the living.
The deep says, ‘It is not in me’;
And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’”
– Job 28.13–14
He was correct that man does not know the value of wisdom or else more people would have it. Therefore, we cannot find wisdom and understanding (wisdom is understanding), in the land of the living, meaning that man is not the source of wisdom,
Some might wonder then if it is in the deep or the sea, but the deep declares that wisdom is not there either.
