How to love

New Testament: 1Jo 3.17–18

To read the Bible in a year, read First John 3 on December 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2021

Speaking of love is easy. Anyone can do it. I am doing it now. However, to show love, well, that is another matter. As John said:

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

– 1 John 3.17–18

Of course, we have to talk about love. John did it. However, the danger arises when we think we have fulfilled the obligation to love by merely speaking of it and teaching it. No, speaking of it and teaching it prepares us to show it.
