Separation between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies

Old Testament: Exo 26.31–33

To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 25–26 on January 31, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

The Lord wanted Israel to make a beautiful veil to separate the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies (Most Holy). He instructed Moses:

“You shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim. You shall hang it upon the four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold. Their hooks shall be gold, upon four sockets of silver. And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy.”

– Exodus 26.31–33

The priests could all go into the Holy Place, but only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies. Therefore, a separation made this important distinction.

This whole thing symbolized the church as the Holy Place and heaven as the Holy of Holies, and the veil represents a barrier that Jesus of Nazareth opened when he died (Hebrews 10.20).

Questions:

  • Are you a member of the church?
  • Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven?
