Old Testament: Exo 40.17
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 39–40 on February 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
The Book of Exodus goes into detail, picturing for us the tabernacle that Israel made in the wilderness by the Lord’s command and guidance. Then they completed it:
And it came to pass in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up.
– Exodus 40.17
After a year, Israel had its own place for sacrifices and burnt offerings, which was the original purpose for which the Lord wanted Israel out of Egypt.
This elaborate structure was mobile, for it was a tent. This would be important for the rest of the 39 years that they would spend in the wilderness, and they would continue to use it once they entered the Land of Canaan, until Solomon build the first temple centuries later.
This must have been a very special day for them as they brought all the pieces together and erected the tabernacle.
