For those who mock Jesus

New Testament: Luke 23.36–37

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 23.27–38 on May 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Roman soldiers did something to Jesus that horrifies me every time I read of it, and I think to myself that I hope they repented. Read this:

The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine, and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”

– Luke 23.36–37

They also beat him, scourged him, and did other horrible things to him, and then they crucified him. Just think of them mocking him as the above text says, as he hung on the cross. Hopefully, they repented, otherwise, how horrible it will be for them in the Judgment, beginning with when they see him on his glorified, heavenly throne!

How many people mock him today? How many people use his name in vain? How shall it be in the Judgment for them when they arrive there, and see King Jesus on his throne, surrounded by the angels and everything that will be there?

Questions:

  • Have you mocked Jesus?
  • Have you repented of it?
