Old Testament: 1Ki 8.27
To read the Bible in a year, read First Kings 8–9 on May 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
As Solomon dedicated the temple of the Lord, he spoke a magnificent prayer and in that prayer he said this about God:
“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!”
– 1 Kings 8.27
How grand are heaven and the heaven of heavens? As grand as they are, they cannot contain God! What then was the temple by comparison? Nevertheless, the temple that Solomon built was very special—although very small next to heaven and the heaven of the heavens—because God Himself would dwell there and meet with the high priest!
Questions:
- What occupies the spot now where the temple used to exist?
- What do you think of the grandness of God?
- How would you describe Him to someone?
