Are you a gatekeeper?

Old Testament: 1Ch 26.1–19

To read the Bible in a year, read First Chronicles 26–27 on May 29, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

First Chronicles 26 begins:

Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph…

– 1 Chronicles 26.1

The writer continued through verse 19 to list the gatekeepers during the reign of David. The gatekeepers had an important job, but think about this. The gatekeepers were the first people a visitor met. The gatekeepers gave that important first impression. Would it be a good one or a bad one?

When visitors come to your church, do they meet anyone, and if not, what kind of impression does that leave and if they do, what kind of greeting do they receive? If your church has no greeters, why not do it yourself? What you do may save a soul.
