Old Testament: 2Ch 29.25–30
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Chronicles 29–31 on June 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
One of the things that made Hezekiah, king of Judah, a great king is that he directed the restoration of true worship of the true and living God. Part of what Hezekiah did was set up the singing:
And he stationed the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, of Gad the king’s seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for thus was the commandment of the LORD by His prophets…Moreover King Hezekiah and the leaders commanded the Levites to sing praise to the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.
– 2 Chronicles 29.25–30
That is what worship is about, praising our God with gladness, bowing before Him, showing our humility. We should not show up to the assembly merely because that is just what we do, but we are glad to praise our God in song along with our brethren.
Questions:
- Do you sing with all your might?
- Hezekiah followed what other king in making the proper arrangements?
