Spending some time with the disciples

New Testament: Acts 9.18–19

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 9.1–22 on June 29, In the year of our Lord 2022

By Don Ruhl

After Saul of Tarsus finally was baptized, he did something that many people today ignore. Watch what he did:

Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.

– Acts 9.18–19

I cannot tell you how many people I have baptized over the years, who upon their baptisms disappeared, because they saw no reason for being an active member of the church. Good thing Saul (later Paul) did not think that way, because most of what we have of his writings were to churches and we learn so much about the Christian walk from his letters.

Questions:

  • Are you an active member of the church where you live?
  • What do you do for the church?
