Use Spiritual Young People

New Testament: Acts 16.1–3

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 16.1–15 on July 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

If you see youth in the church who are spiritual, do everything you can to encourage them, and if they desire to do some good work, use them, if you can. Paul did it:

Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek. He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium. Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek.

– Acts 16.1–3

Paul made a good decision, because they became one of the greatest evangelistic teams ever. Then when Paul died, Timothy could carry on the work. What if Paul wanted someone his own age to work with him? That would not be wrong, because he did that at other times, but we must train the young also.

Look for young people to guide, if they want it.

Questions:

  • How old were you when you started doing good works or started teaching the Bible?
  • Why did Paul circumcise Timothy?
