Old Testament: Psa 42.11
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 41–43 on July 24, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
We get down and depressed, and we wonder why. We question ourselves. The psalmist had the same experience, but he also pointed toward the solution:
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.
– Psalm 42.11
See his confusion? See also his solution? He saw God as his hope, that God would help his downtrodden countenance, because Yahweh was his God.
Talk to yourself in the same way. Remind yourself of who your God is and how he can help you.
Questions:
- Why do you get cast down?
- How has God helped you in the past?
