Old Testament: Psa 64.1–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 62–64 on July 31, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
David, like most of us, had people who just did not like him. They spoke against him, but he sought the Lord for help, as in Psalm 64:
Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words,
That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.
– Psalm 64.1–4
Was David successful in getting the Lord to help him? Look at it this way: We know of David’s legacy but we do not know of any good legacy of his enemies, in fact, his enemies went down in defeat.
Therefore, when someone speaks bitter words against you, do what David did in Psalm 64.
Questions:
- David’s enemies sharpened their words like a what?
- Did his enemies fear to shoot at him?
