Old Testament: Psa 82.6–7
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 82–84 on August 8, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Psalm 82 speaks of judges who did not do their job of judging righteously, yet God had given them power over people’s lives, making the judges gods, in a sense. However, since they judged unjustly, he said:
I said, “You are gods,
And all of you are children of the Most High.
But you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the princes.”
– Psalm 82.6–7
The Most High gave judges god-like power over people’s lives, but those judges would die like men, reminding them of what they truly were.
