New Testament: Rom 12.19
To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 12 on August 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Someone hurts you. You want to retaliate. The Holy Spirit says, Don’t do it. Listen to what Paul he wrote to the Romans:
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
– Romans 12.19
We should not avenge ourselves, for that is not our job. Instead, we make room for the Lord to handle the situation. We have to have confidence in him that he will do what is best, and that he will do it better than we ever could.
Questions:
- Has avenging yourself always worked out?
- Whose job is it to carry out vengeance?
