What is lawful may not always be what is best

New Testament: 1Co 6.12

To read the Bible in a year, read First Corinthians 6 on August 24, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

Just because we can do something lawfully, does not mean that we automatically always have the freedom to do it. There are other things to consider, as Paul wrote:

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

– 1 Corinthians 6.12

The self-centered man thinks that if it is lawful, he will do it anyway, regardless of how it affects others or how it affects the situation. Such a man does not come from a place of love for God and his neighbor, but only for himself.

The God-centered man loves God first and his neighbor second, then that man takes care of his needs. Therefore, he considers God and his fellow-man before he engages in that which is lawful.
