None of us can boast that we are better than other Christians or that we have more important positions in the body of Christ, the church. Paul argued:
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.
– 1 Corinthians 12.12–14)
The Spirit puts us into the spiritual body of Christ. Therefore, it is not we who are something but the Spirit who is. I cannot say that I am better than you, nor should I say that you are better than me. For we serve in the church as the Spirit assigns us.
Questions:
- Do you put others down in your home congregation?
- Has anyone put you down for what you do in the church?
