New Testament: Col 4.18
To read the Bible in a year, read Colossians 4 on October 12, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
As in all his letters, Paul wrote of the deep things of the Spirit of the doctrine of Christ. He did the same in the Book of Colossians. Then he ended it in this manner:
This salutation by my own hand—Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. Amen.
– Colossians 4.18
First, he authenticated the letter by signing it. They would recognize his signature.
Next, he made a simple request: Remember him in his chains. That was all that he had to say about the matter!
Third, he desired grace upon his readers, who were his brethren in Christ.
Fourth, he declared that these things were true and that they would be so by writing, Amen.
His emphasis was on them. It was not about himself. He was not like the person you know who only talks about himself. Paul talked about Christ and everything connected with him.
Questions:
- What do you talk about?
- What do you wish for your congregation?
