What you get when the Lord saves us

Old Testament: Isa 49.8–12

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 48–49 on October 12, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

The Lord God of heaven knows precisely what we need and he provides it all in Christ Jesus. The Lord spoke through Isaiah, saying:

Thus says the LORD:
“In an acceptable time I have heard You,
And in the day of salvation I have helped You;
I will preserve You and give You
As a covenant to the people,
To restore the earth,
To cause them to inherit the desolate heritages;
That You may say to the prisoners, ‘Go forth,’
To those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves.’
‘They shall feed along the roads,
And their pastures shall be on all desolate heights.
They shall neither hunger nor thirst,
Neither heat nor sun shall strike them;
For He who has mercy on them will lead them,
Even by the springs of water He will guide them.
I will make each of My mountains a road,
And My highways shall be elevated.
Surely these shall come from afar;
Look! Those from the north and the west,
And these from the land of Sinim.”

– Isaiah 49.8–12

Look at what he provides for us when he saves us:

  • Salvation at the right time
  • He preserves us
  • He makes us as a covenant to the earth
  • He sends us forth from the prison of sin
  • He brings us into the light
  • We enjoy the beauties of heaven, not hungering, nor thirsting, nor experiencing heat
  • He has mercy on us
  • He leads us
  • He guides us

Why does anyone not seek the salvation of the Lord? Without his salvation life is bleak and eternity is far worse.

Questions:

  • What blessings have you experienced in Christ?
