Do not let our enemy’s insults make you afraid

Old Testament: Isa 51.7–8

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 50–52 on October 13, In the year of our Lord 2022

By Don Ruhl

You believe the truth. You do your best to live it, but you hear people in our increasingly hostile-to-Christianity culture mocking what you believe. Listen to what the Lord wanted His people to hear a long time ago, for He still thinks this way:

“Listen to Me, you who know righteousness,
You people in whose heart is My law:
Do not fear the reproach of men,
Nor be afraid of their insults.
For the moth will eat them up like a garment,
And the worm will eat them like wool;
But My righteousness will be forever,
And My salvation from generation to generation.”

– Isaiah 51.7–8

If you know righteousness, if the Lord’s law is in your heart, then you do not have to fear what men say to you, because their hatred of the truth will make them perish. You just stay with God’s righteousness and law.

Questions:

  • What happens on the inside of you when you hear people mocking what you believe?
  • How are you holding up when others insult you?
