New Testament: 1Ti 6.3–5
To read the Bible in a year, read First Timothy 6 on October 26, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
As Paul started to end his first letter to Timothy, the apostle said:
If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.
– 1 Timothy 6.3–5
Here Paul provided insight into the nature of the person, whether Christian or not, who does not consent to the wholesome words of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul said that you really cannot deal with such people and it is best to withdraw from them.
Otherwise, you will find yourself arguing endlessly with him and for all the labor you put out for the sake of his soul, it will get you nowhere.
Questions:
- Do you consent to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ?
- Do some of his teachings make you uncomfortable?
