Old Testament: Jer 42.7
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 40–42 on November 5, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Some men approached Jeremiah, asking him to seek the Lord for them on what they should do. They promised that they would do whatever the Lord said, whether they liked what he said or not.
So, Jeremiah spoke to the Lord on their behalf. However, the Lord did not answer right away:
And it happened after ten days that the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah.
– Jeremiah 42.7
Why did the Lord wait ten days? The Lord knew that the men who came to Jeremiah had already made up their minds on what they wanted to do. They merely sought the Lord’s approval for what they had already decided. Perhaps the Lord waited, knowing their hypocrisy, waiting for them to repent, but they never did.
Questions:
- When you pray, do you ask the Lord to bless what you have already decided to do?
- When should you seek the Lord?
