If Jesus was going to serve as a high priest, then He had to have something to offer. Therefore, the writer of the Book of Hebrews said: 

For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer.

– Hebrews 8.3 

What He offered was the greatest thing that He could have offered. He did not offer any animal. No gift on this earth could even come close in value to what He offered. He offered Himself.

• How do you treat the gift of Jesus that He gave to you? 
• What is the greatest gift that you could give someone?
