Old Testament: Lam 3.31–33
To read the Bible in a year, read Lamentations 3–5 on November 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
Jerusalem suffered brutally at the hands of the Babylonians, but the Lord had sent them. Therefore, He could also bring comfort, especially after His people had repented. Jeremiah the prophet wrote:
For the Lord will not cast off forever. Though He causes grief, yet He will show compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. For He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.
– Lamentations 3.31–33
Is that not beautiful? Everyone of us has experienced it, even if we did not recognize it at the time or may still not recognize it, because somehow you made it through the horrible times that you have experienced. Your suffering may not have been heaven sent, but the Lord still helped you through it. When you did suffer for sin, the Lord later showed His mercy or will show it later.
Questions:
- What have you learned in your trials?
- Do you see your life from the Lord’s view?
