Do you think about how to stir up your brethren unto love and good works?

New Testament: Heb 10.24–25

To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 10.24–39 on November 14, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022

By Don Ruhl

Do Christians who habitually miss the assembling of the church know what a discouragement they are? When a Christian makes it a habit of missing the assembly, not only does his absence discourage those present, but by being absent that Christian has missed an opportunity to do something:

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

– Hebrews 10.24–25

We meet to worship God, but we also meet to stir one another up to do love and to do good works! It gives us a chance not to think about ourselves, but to think about God and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Questions:

  • What do you do to encourage your fellow-Christians?
  • Do you get encouraged by your brothers and sisters in Christ?
