Old Testament: Dan 8.1
To read the Bible in a year, read Daniel 7–8 on December 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2022
By Don Ruhl
The Lord showed Daniel the might of four kingdoms, and a fifth one that was greater than all the others, by means of visions. During the reign of King Belshazzar, Daniel wrote:
In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me—to me, Daniel—after the one that appeared to me the first time.
– Daniel 8.1
Many people claim to have visions from God, but then things do not turn out as the alleged vision had declared, whereas, with Daniel, we can confirm with history that all of what he saw in visions, came to pass, and that is because the God of heaven showed the prophet things that only the one true and living God could show.
What you see in Daniel’s visions is that God knows all of the nations of the earth, and He knows why they rise and why they fall, and He uses them for His own purposes. He uses them primarily for His people, ancient Israel in the past, and the church in the present.
Questions:
- What do you learn from Daniel’s visions?
- Do you know the four kingdoms of which Daniel spoke, and do you know the identity of the fifth one?
